morocco memories

finally posting photos from the amazing trip to morocco. we travelled all the way east from marrakech to the desert, a couple of kilometers away from algiers, and back. there were so many highlights from the trip,  the biggest of all was probably the local people and their warmth and hospitality, despite the fact that our cultures differ so much. we didn't cease to be surprised and appreciative of the beautiful architecture and the intricate moroccan designs. the magnificent desert and the dawn camel ride was so serene. the local markets, abundant with local artisanal arts and crafts, were bursting with color and energy. the music was so alluring as well and our bodies couldn't stop dancing when we visited some of the dance clubs in the modern marrakech. our visit to hammam, or a moroccan bathhouse, was unforgettable and , after hours of being scrubbed with olive oil soap, we emerged from the establishment feeling reborn and renewed. the spirit of this country fascinates me to this day. i definitely must return.

packing for morocco

i really do not have many flowy/conservative casual clothes to pack for my trip... feeling really inspired by these images..yes i do have to get in the vacation spirit as we are expecting the arrival of hurricane Sandy here in NYC!

i just saw someone carrying this celine trapeze bag and i have a new crush. i love the colors and the simple, vintage-y look..pic credit: philophilia.

fall shoes

i think i have found the perfect shoe for fall--it's a fringed wedge suede bootie that i got here. very isabel marant and so comfortable!!!

scent shopping

so i've been looking for a new scent and recently paid a visit to saks fifth avenue with my girlfriend. we sniffed the night away :) for me, perfume shopping is more emotional than shopping for clothes where i usually just give in to my impulses and rarely change my mind later. you have to allow a few days or even weeks to figure out whether a new scent fits you or not. therefore i haven't made up my mind just yet as i am trying out several new pefumes but the favorites definitely are:

1. jo malone -blue agava and cacao cologne -a very unique smell.
2. annick goutal- petite cherie -very subtle, feminine and slightly fruity

3. tom ford-santal blush -mysterous woody and slightly spicy, perfect for the winter
4.killian- love, don't be shy -loving the name and the packagind design of this musky and feminine perfume.

interestingly, saks doesnt allow to order more than 6 bottles  of the first 2 perfumes i listed due to high demand.
